The Indonesian Industry Ministry said that the domestic drone industry needs to improve quality in order to strengthen global competitiveness.

"We are committed to support the development of the domestic drone industry to become more innovative and competitive at the global level," the ministry's Secretary of the Directorate General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment, and Electronics (ILMATE), Yan Sibarang Tandiele, noted in Jakarta on Saturday.

He informed that his party also encourages the domestic drone industry to improve the quality and value of the domestic content level (TKDN) to supply the needs for government programs.

One of the ministry's supports is through the Indonesia Drone Expo (IDE) which was held on August 10-12 at the Jakarta International Expo, Jakarta.

The exhibition was considered a good opportunity for the domestic industry to build networks and business contacts, Tandiele remarked.

Moreover, he conveyed that the ILMATE Directorate General has facilitated the drone industry to carry out business matching through the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to gather domestic industries and potential users, such as industry, central and regional governments, as well as state-owned enterprises (SOEs), and continues to strive to build a domestic drone industry and increasing the use of domestic production (P3DN).

The companies that carried out the MoU signing were PT Bentara Tabang Nusantara (PT BETA) with PT Terra Drone Indonesia and PT Indonesian Transportation Solutions Innovation (PT ISTI) and PT Tera Data Indonusa.

Tandiele stated that collaboration between PT BETA as the drone manufacturing industry in Indonesia and PT Terra Drone as the world's largest drone service provider company originating from Japan, established a collaboration to export domestically produced drones to the international market.

This comprehensive collaboration was marked by the signing of an agreement to procure 40 units of RAYBE drones, he continued.

The CEO of PT BETA, Indra Permana Sopian, mentioned that he was proud with this strategic partnership with Terra Drone in an effort to bring RAYBE to the global market.

"This is an important step in strengthening Indonesia's local drone technology position in the international market," Sopian noted.

Furthermore, he conveyed that apart from the international market, the need for commercial drones in Indonesia is also very large in various industrial sectors.

Including the government's need for the Complete Systematic Land Registration (PTSL) program of the Ministry of Agrarian and shoreline surveys of the Geospatial Information Agency throughout Indonesia which needs support from drones, he disclosed.
