Forest and land fires had scorched an eight hectares area of Campus II Antasari State Islamic University (UIN) Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan.
ANTARA's monitoring at scene of the incident, fires engulfed two areas around the campus tens of meters apart. Fires burned more than five hectares in one place, an about 300 meters away from UIN it burned approximately three hectares of land.
“It took about three hours for the joint team to put out the fires in UIN Antasari campus,” said Coordinator of Quick Response Team (TRC) of the South Kalimantan Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Mansyah in Banjarbaru, Wednesday night.
Mansyah said TRC received the information on fires at 16.00 Wita. The team quickly headed to the location inLandasan Ulin Tengah Urban Village, Liang Anggang sub-district, Banjarbaru City.
South Kalimantan BPBD, Banjarbaru BPBD, Manggala Agni, firefighters volunteers (BPK), TNI and Polri joined in extinguishing efforts.

On the field, the team encountered obstacles. The water source was quite far from the location of fire, however, the team confirmed that the fire was stamped out around 20.30 Wita.
He revealed that the the fire point was semi-peat land.
The team used eight water hoses to extinguished the fire.
Meanwhile, a South Kalimantan BPBD Field Office Ilham Ramadhan said that his team had actually did the stamp out at the location during the day.
“It turned out that the fire was rekindled around four in the afternoon. There were two points of accidents at once,” said Ilham.
He said the team was struggling to move locations in two areas of fires that scorched one of UIN campus.
A volunteer from a BPK, Rauhan, then declared that the condition of fire was undercontrol. “The flame have been extinguished,” he said.
