Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The state port operator PT Pelindo III Banjarmasin joint shipping company set up 17 ships to transport Eid homecoming exodus (popularly known as mudik) passengers from Banjarmasin to Surabaya and Semarang.
 

GM of PT Pelindo III Hengky Jajang Herasmana here on Tuesday said homecoming activities at the Port Trisakti Banjarmasin now began to rise sharply. Until D-9 of Eid the number of ship passengers have reached 4,700 people.

To anticipate surges on passengers, especially from Central Kalimantan, PT Pelindo III prepare 17 ships, one of which is a warship, which will begin operation in D-5.

"We predict ship passenger surge begins in D-5 to D-1. If necessary, we operate the warship at that time," he said.

The number of passengers will be booming as in previous years, because most of passengers come from Central Kalimantan, who choose to mudik through the port of Trisakti Banjarmasin.

"It seems to be a surge in passengers, but not as crowded as last year. The number of passengers last year in D-9 had reached over 5 thousand, now only 4,700 people," he said.

To ascertain the condition of the ship, Hengky directly monitored. He also asked the health conditions of passengers. Hengky also check the safety of the ship, tool equipment, facilities, which are now relatively much better.
