The Indonesian Ministry of Health this year has appointed dr. Andi Abdurrahman Noor Regional General Hospital in Tanah Bumbu District, South Kalimantan, as a pilot hospital for cancer and stroke service.

"The appointment was (made) based on the needs of the community here, because it was considered to far (for them) to go to a referral hospital for treatment," said Legal Public Relation and Organization of the Tanah Bumbu Hospital Dini Irma Irliani in Batulicin, Tuesday.

Based on the records, the number of stroke patients in 2022 who sought treatment at the hospital was 6,330.

In preparation, Dini said, the hospital sends its human resources, such as neurologists, general practitioner and nurses to undergo education and training relaterd to cancer and stroke services.

The hospital will also complete facilities by building a representative CT Scan through the 2023 BLUD fund of IDR678,390,000 and CT Scan type 64 slices with 2023 Special Allocation Fund (DAK) of around IDR12,437,412,000.

"So far, cancer and stroke patients who week treatment at the Tanah Bumbu Hospital are always referred to Ulin Regional General Hospital in Banjarmasin. If this service can be realized in 2024, our patients then will no longer need to be sent to Banjarmasin," she expounded.

Meanwhile, Tanah Bumbu Hospital has opened health services through internal medicine poly, pediatric poly, surgical poly, physical and rehabilitation specialists, mental health, skin and genital health, anesthesia, nerves, ENT, radiology, ophthalmology, cinical pathology, lung.

All of these polyclinics are served by specialist doctors in their respective fields, but for orthopedic, cardiac, oncology, urology polyclinics there is no specialist treating them.

"The number of medical personnel at Tanah Bumbu Hospital currently reaches 296 people, with details of 162 nurses, 84 midwives, 24 specialist doctors, 23 general practitioners, and 3 dentists," she said.
