Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - An engin of an aircraft belonging to Kalstar on fire shortly after takeoff from Syamsudin Noor Airport Banjarmasin, so the plane made an emergency landing.


General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I Syamsudin Noor Airport Handy Heryudhitiawan in Banjarbaru on Friday said the sparks coming from left wing of the aircraft.

"The plane took off at 11:54 am, but four minutes later at 11:58 am the plane returned because there was a spark in the engine number one at left-wing," he said.

When flame was seen in the left wing, the pilot Richard Jerry requested permission to aerial inspectors to return to the airport.

The plane, which had aired for four-minute made an emergency landing with condition engine number 1 off so fleet and rescuers were deployed.

"When the plane landed the airport was in emergency status II and two fire engines, ambulances and buses to transport passengers deployed," he said.

Landing went smoothly and aircraft ATR 72 series 500 carrying 34 passengers to fly to Kotabaru was then placed on the apron 8.

"All the passengers survived despite suffering from shock and four people suffered minor injuries were taken to hospital for treatment," he said.

Eyewitnesses at the scene could see the plane flying low and circling above the airport with a roaring sound quite hard towards the runway.

"The sound is quite loud when the plane flew low and spin toward the runway. Probably because the engine was idle," said residents in the area behind the airport.
