As the Indonesian contingent has emerged victorious as the 2022 ASEAN Para Games (APG) general champion, South Kalimantan athletes were among the contributors. They bagged 36 medals for Indonesia.
The Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC) athletes of South Kalimantan have been part of making a good name of this country and brought Indonesia to win first place for two consecutive edition of this multi-sport event. Previously it won the ASEAN Para Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
They were welcomed with joyfulness, like heroes, as they arrived at Syamsudin Noor International Airport of Banjarmasin, Monday, and paraded around the city of Banjarbaru by the South Kalimantan committees of NPC and the South Kalimantan Youth and Sports Agency.
"This is definitely my motivation to be able to fight even more excited. I hope my spirit can too infect other friends," said Warmia, who collected three golds in athletic, as she saw the boisterous welcome.
23 South Kalimantan paralympic athletes took part in the 11th APG. They represented Indonesia in athletic, swimming, archery, shooting, and CP football.
Even though they had collected many medals, Firdaus said they had not meet the target of gold medals yet.
"Due to competing with the classification below, quota for playing points then, as a result two events that predicted
gold were gone," he said.
Firdaus said the athletes will be sent again to other national and international event.
Now he set to propose for their bonus to the government of South Kalimantan Province through the Youth and Sports Agency.

Indonesia contingent successfully bagged 177 gold, 141 silver, and 110 bronze medals in the 11th ASEAN Para Games which were held in Surakarta and Semarang, Central Java, July 30 to August 6, 2022.
