Banjarmasin (South Kalimantan Antaranews) - South Kalimantan Regional Police began to operate a floating clinic to help improve health care of citizens who live along the river Martapura quickly and optimally.


Head of the National Police Security Maintenance Agency KomjenPutu Eko Bayuseno when opening the floating clinic in Banjarmasin on Wednesday said that the clinic is equipped with various facilities to support the improvement of public health services for riverbanks residents.

Nationally, according to Bayu, the construction of a floating clinic in South Kalimantan Police is the first and this will serve as a model for other regional police (Polda) in Indonesia.

Health services for the community on the embankments of Martapura and Barito river have so far not in maximum yet due to limited water transportation facilities and infrastructure. As a result it is not uncommon to public health care is often too late.

"This could be a pilot in Indonesia that the police provide health services to the community," said Putu Eko Bayuseno.

South Kalimantan Regional Police chief Brigadier General Agung Budi Maryoto said the clinic is the result of cooperation Ditpolair (Directorate of Water Police), Biddokkes (Medical and Health Affairs) and the Social Security Management Agency (BPJS).

It is equipped with IGD (emergency room), polyclinic-dental, general clinic, pharmacy, wards while, laboratories, land ambulance, water ambulance, and two doctors.

The floating polyclinic on the neighborhood of Water Police quarters is also equipped with dock, so that people who use water transport such as canoes or motorboats can directly dock.

South Kalimantan Secretary M Arsyadi said, the existence of the floating clinic is helpful to government programs to address  riverbank community needs in health.

"In addition, this clinic will reinforce the icon of Banjarmasin city as a city of a thousand rivers," he said.
