Head of South Kalimantan Office of Religious Affairs Ministry Dr H Muhammad Thamrin said that this year's hajj quota for the province is 1,743 pilgrims.

According to him, this is in accordance with the national distribution. Indonesia has received a quota for 100,051 pilgrims from Saudi Arabia.

In details, some 92,825 for regular hajj and 114 for mentors from elements of Hajj and Umrah Guidance Group (KBIHU).

"The remaining 465 people are for the quota of Regional Hajj Officers (PHD)," he said here on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the details for South Kalimantan are 1,732 are for regular hajj quota, one for KBIHU, and 10 for PHD.

"The quota for regular hajj pilgrims is allocated in accordance with the provincial or districts and cities quota in 1443 Hijriyah/2022," he expounded.

"(Namely) for pilgrims who have paid the 2022 Hajj Travel Cost (Bipih) and aged no more than 65 years as of July 8,  2022 according to the order of portion number," he said.

Whereas for prospective hajj pilgrims who have paid off the 2020 Bipih but are not included in the allocation or postponed the 2022 departure, they are prioritized to become hajj pilgrims in 2023 as long as the hajj quota is available.

South Kalimantan hajj quota in 2022 is indeed has been cut off by 50 percent from the previous hajj quota before the COVID-19 pandemic, which amounted to 3,818 pilgrims.
