Head of Indonesia’s Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority Bambang Susantono is seeking to ensure that the development and governance of the IKN are free from corruption by collaborating with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

Susantono and Deputy Head of the IKN Authority Dhony Rahajoe visited KPK headquarters in South Jakarta on Monday to consult on the planning and development of the IKN.

"We want to ensure that the governance of the IKN will run well without corruption,” Susantono said.

He further said he believed that good and corruption-free governance can attract investors to get involved in the IKN’s establishment since most of the financing will not be borne by the state budget (APBN) as some 80 percent of the funding will be sourced from public-private partnership and private investment.

Hence, he welcomed the establishment of KPK’s IKN task force to oversee the development of the new capital city in East Kalimantan province.

"We are delighted since the KPK has formed a special task force for the IKN. We will immediately cooperate with the task force," the head of IKN authority remarked.

The cooperation will make certain that each stage of IKN establishment is free from corruption, starting from the preparation, development, transfer, to government administration stage, he added.

Meanwhile, Rahajoe lauded the meeting with the KPK. He said he hoped that the IKN development can be carried out successfully.

"It is a huge project. However, we do not have much time," he added.

Earlier, President Joko Widodo appointed Susantono as the head of IKN Authority and Rahajoe as the deputy head through the Presidential Decree Number 9/M of 2022 concerning the Appointment of the Authority Head and Deputy Head of IKN Nusantara.

As regulated in Article 12 of Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning IKN, the IKN authority has the power to grant investment licensing, ease business permits, as well as provide special facilities to parties who support the financing of the development of the IKN.
