Tiung Tanjung, the local variety of bird's eye chili in Tabalong District, South Kalimantan, has obtained the certificate of registration from the Ministry of Agriculture.

This encouraged the central government to provide its support for the development of tiung bird's eye chili in Tabalong through the 2022 State budget (APBN).

"For developing tiung chili covering an area of 30 hectares this year we obtain funding support from the 2022 state budget," said Head of Management of Vegetable Genetic Resource and Biopharmaceuticals of the Tabalong Agriculture Agency Sri Astuty.

The funding support including for the development of shallot seeds in 20 hectares area.

Currently, the largest bird's eye chili cultivation is in Bintang Ara Sub-district covering 40 hectares and Haruai 34 hectaree.

"In Bintang Ara the production of bird's eye chili about 120 tons and Haruai 90 tons," he expounded.

Meanwhile, the development of shallot in Tabalong is planned to receive funding support from South Kalimantan Provincial budget (APBD) I for an area of five hectares.

Then there will also funding support from APBD II for the development of 0.5 hectares of shallot seeds.
