Amuntai, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - A total of 873 infants and toddlers in North Hulu Sungai (HSU) suffer respiratory infections (ARI) due to thick haze in the last month.


Head of Prevention and Eradication of Diseases of the Health Agency Masbudianto in Amuntai Wednesday said the number of patients with respiratory infection during the enactment of the Emergency Haze in September 2015 increased from 2,039 in August to 2,613 patients.

"Among the patients who went to the community health centers for respiratory problems due to the smog were 873 infants and toddlers," he said.

Masbudianto urge parents to not underestimate the haze that blanketed HSU. Many parents, he said, let infants and toddlers without mask protection when outside the home.

"In fact, the majority of citizens and students did not use  mask though very dangerous," he said.

He explained that the number of patients with acute respiratory infection in the last three months at HSU continues to increase, ie 1,692 patients in July, 2,039 patients in August and 2,613 patients September.
