Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Kotabaru Navy Base personnel managed to extinguish fire that burned 41 hectares of plantations and farms on the island of Pulaulaut Tengah.


Kotabaru Naval Base Commander Lieutenant Colonel (P) BagusHandoko here on Tuesday said this action as one of the form of oneness of TNI and the people. Navy together with the community down directly in a number of areas to fight forest and land fire.

Navy personnel with preparedness hand by hand with elements of society managed to extinguish the fire that has about a week burned the land and forests in the area of Semisir and several regions in Pulaulaut, Kotabaru.

Bagus lead a team of about 60 personnel to the scene of the fire by bringing four cars, consisting of two tanker cars each with a capacity of 5,000 liters, car fire, a unit of the pickup transporting a portable fire engine.

He admitted was overwhelmed by the blazing fire in a high wind, but with alacrity of Navy personnel who have been trained, around 2-3 hours later his team managed to extinguish the fire.

In the operation, Navy Kotabaru claimed to spend at least 60 tons of water sprayed to extinguish the fire.

In addition to using water, the team used tools, such as leafy twigs and wetted to extinguish the fire, and other equipment.

"In fact, we are also ready to bring cooking utensils, tents and other equipment, when extinguishing the fire can not be immediately resolved. But Alhamdulillah, about 2 to 3 hours the fire was extinguished and the team could return to Kotabaru," he said.

Bagus emphasized that the Navy is ready to help the community or the government at any time if needed to extinguish the fire.
