The Statistics Central Agency (BPS) recorded South Kalimantan inflation in November 2021 stood at 0.58 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 108.67 up from 108.04 n October 2021.

Coordinator of Distribution Statistics Function of the South Kalimantan BPS Fachri Ubadiyah in a press statement received by Antara News on Wednesday noted three cities in the province experienced inflation. 

"Inflation in Banjarmasin is 0.62 percent with CPI of 108.54, Tanjung 0.38 percent with a CPI 108.89, and Kotabaru 0.34 percent with a CPI of 109.61," he said. 

Inflation occurred due to the price increase as indicated by a significant increase in the seven index of expenditure groups, namely the group of recreation, sports, and culture 1.67 percent.

Food, beverage, and tobacco group 1.17 percent, the group of transportation 1.05 percent, the equipment, tools, and household routine maintenance group 0.70 percent.

The supply of food, beverage, and restaurant group 0.55 percent, personal care and other services 0.49 percent, and the group of clothing and footwear 0.36 percent.

Meanwhile, deflation occurred to three commodities, and one commodity's CPI value did not change from the previous month.

Commodities with the highest share of inflation included cooking oil, chicken eggs, air transportation, snakehead fish, tilapia, cinema, rice with dishes, red chili, stray fish and watermelon.

Based on the calendar year, South Kalimantan in November 2021 Kalsel experienced an inflation of 1.77 percent, while year-on-year inflation (November 2021 to November 2020) was 2.57 percent.
