Amuntai, South Kalimantan (Antaranews.Kalsel) - Drought began to threaten families' medicinal plant or known here as toga cultivated by society of North Hulu Sungai, South Kalimantan.


Chairman of Dasawisma Mawar in Pihaung Village, Sub-district of Haur Gading, Masliana in Amuntai on Wednesday said toga in form of temulawak or Java turmeric cultivated by citizens have become household industrial raw materials. Dasawisma is a group of ten families with activities to increase health of family.

"As a result of dry season many toga so dry and threaten domestic industries raw materials from toga," said Masliana.

Masliana said temulawak has been processed into instant temulawak powder products as traditional health drink. It become a mainstay product of Pihaung village communities representing North Hulu Sungai (HSU) on South Kalimantan Toga Competition which will be assessed later on July 27.

Chairman of the PKK HSU Anisah Rasyidah Wahid, when currently reviewing the readiness of the village of Pihaung, praised the efforts of the cultivation of plants such as temulawak already developed by the community.

"The cultivation of toga been able to bring domestic industry that sustains the family income," said Anisah.

Facing the South Kalimantan provincial level competitions, Anisah hoping Head of Haur Gading Sub-district and village officials helping preparation, including to overcome obstacles faced by villagers in drought./Eddy Abdillah
