The City Government of Banjarmasin through the Environment Agency (DLH) has removed one by one temporary garbage disposal sites (TPS) on the side of the main road.
"This year eight TPS on the main road side have been closed, we have removed them so they will no longer be operated. This will continue," said Head of Waste Management of the agency Marzuki, Wednesday.
The trash disposal sites that have been removed are on Jalan Pramuka, on Jalan Sutoyo, on Jalan Belitung, in Sungai Andai, and several other places.
The disposal sites in the capital city of the province are 110, about 70 percent of them are on the side of the road, both the protocol roads and residential roads.
"Some of them in the community's residential environment to become the integrated trash disposal site (TPST) or site for reducing, reusing, recycling garbage (TPS 3R), if managed properly," he said.
According to him, the closing of TPS is not without a solution. There has been careful planning for the means for residents to dispose of their waste by choosing several options. It can be diverted to the nearest TPS that is not closed or a garbage cart that will take it directly to the garbage truck within a certain time and place.
