Pelaihari, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Raising jellyfish in Tanah Laut can not develop properly due to poor quality of sea water.


Head of Tanah Laut Maritime and Fisheries Agency Ahmad Mustahdi here on Thursday said fishermen on the coastal areas until now have not yet been successful in cultivating jellyfish.

In fact, he added, the fishermen in the Batakan village, Panyipatan Sub-district, has been long enough cultivating jellyfish which seeds obtained from outside Tanah Laut.

In addition to the quality of sea water, according to Ahmad Mustahdi, there may be other factors that cause the cultivation of jellyfish can not produce as expected.

He said that, in addition to the problem of knowledge about jellyfish, fishermen also faced problem of marketing. Under these conditions complicate the Marine and Fisheries Agency (DKP) to determine the amount of production.

However, he stated, DKP continues to monitor the development of the jellyfish business involved Batakan fishing village.

Local assembly member Mursidi Ahmad said, the sea potential of the districts should be well-run, in order to contribute to local income. So is the coaching and training for fishermen.
