State-owned Enterprises (SOE) Minister Erick Thohir expects that job vacancies and civil servant (ASN) recruitment at several state-owned companies and the SOE ministry to serve as opportunities for jobseekers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"There are so many vacancies from BUMN companies and the ministry as well. Jobseekers can look those up through the companies' social media accounts," Thohir tweeted on his Twitter account @erickthohir here on Wednesday.

Thohir noted that job vacancies from SOEs were part of the companies' transformation plan to find a new business plan amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Hopefully, vacancies for civil servants at the SOE ministry will be an opportunity as well," Thohir remarked.

The minister expressed concern over the extensive job losses due to the pandemic.

"I am very concerned for those who have been laid off by their companies owing to the COVID-19 pandemic," he stressed.

Earlier, spokesperson for the Ministry of Communications and Informatics Dedy Permadi spoke of the government having formulated a regulation to avoid potential layoffs (PHK) in the manpower field due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Moreover, coordinator for emergency public activities restrictions (PPKM) Luhut Pandjaitan requested the Minister of Manpower to issue a regulation regarding the interpretation of Work From Home (WFH).

According to Permadi, the regulation aimed to address the matter of differing opinions regarding the definition of WFH, including that of working from home, which could likely have an impact on reducing wages of workers.

President Joko Widodo had extended PPKM until July 25, 2021. The government will be gradually relaxing the emergency PPKM from July 26 based on the trend in coronavirus transmission.

Emergency PPKM has impacted several work sectors to apply 100 percent WFH regulation for their employees. Only essential sectors, such as logistics, transportation, health, construction, and basic needs of water and electricity, are allowed to operate and work at offices.
