The Tabalong Agriculture Agency will partner with crumb rubber company PT Bumi Jaya to support the marketing of bokar (rubber processing material, latex or lump, produced by farmers).

Head of Agriculture of the agency Saleh said through this collaboration it is hoped that the Bokar Processing and Marketing Units (UPPB) in Tabalong will not need to sell outside the district.

"We are preparing an MoU to cooperate with PT Bumi Jaya by involving many more UPPBs," said Saleh.

This cooperation can support the Community Movement to Improve Rubber Quality program which was launched by Tabalong in 2014.

Saleh said currently there are 33 UPPBs in Tabalong, but only about 10 are able to sell quality bokar to PT Bumi Jaya. The company is only willing to buy clean or quality bokar.

PT Bumi Jaya Purchasing Manager Toni Chandra acknowledged that the company applies clean bokar quality standards. "Farmers must be able to produce clean bokar to sell to PT Bumi Jaya," he explained.

The crumb rubber company itself will provide a better bokar price if the quality standard can be met.
