Martapura, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Banjar Regent Khairul Saleh asked Banjar typical stone the "Red Borneo" exploitation not to damage the natural environment and its surroundings.
"We hope Banjar typical stone to be widely known both nationally and abroad, but the utilization not to destroy nature," he said in Martapura on Thursday.
The regent who served two terms was answering reporters' questions related to the rampant exploitation of Borneo red stone found in Karang Intan and Aranio. He expects, the stones which is natural resources to be managed society, so as to improve the welfare of the entire community around the stone.
"Local people should be able to keep the wealth of the surrounding nature and not to cause conflict to disrupt social order situation," he asked.
According to Khairul, the existence of "Red Borneo" began to rise as the booming gemstone almost all of Indonesia, reinforce the regional name as a producer of gems.
"Martapura known as Diamonds Town and now plus "Red Borneo" which classified as gemstones," he said.
"Red Borneo" especially the flaming red color, if it is rubbed quality is almost the same as the famous rubies from Burma, he said.
