Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Some of the fruits centers in South Kalimantan inland areas, such as in Balangan and Tabalong, "flooded" by cempedak, the smaller cousin of jackfruit.

AntaranewsKalsel journalist, on his way to some locations on Sunday, saw so abundant fruit production of the family Moraceae that at the location of the garden the fruits barely have a price.

For example, in the Panggung village, Sub-district of South Paringin, Balangan. Production of fruit in an orchard intercropping with rubber crop so abundant. So anyone who visits the site is allowed by the owner for picking ripe fruit and eat them as much without having to pay.

"This year the fruit is so abundant, so if the location of the garden away from the village a lot of fruit left to fall and fell to the ground with no one willing to take it," said Norifansyah, the owner of the garden.

Based on the monitoring, each has a cempedak tree with "berundun" (lots of fruit to hundreds per plant). Almost all such cempedak tree, whereas the number of trees are hard to count on the fingers, because they are too many.

It has become a habit in the region growing fruits including cempedak staple crops intercropped with livelihoods, namely rubber. As a result, every citizen has a rubber plantation and also has cempedak trees.

This year, perhaps due to the prolonged rainy season, led to the production of abundant fruits. Even from a number of the cempedak fruit looks uneven. Some are ripe, but some are still small or young and predicted to be ripe in a few months.

"If you look at the fruit of the tree possibility cempedak season this year will be long, perhaps up to four or five months," said Norifansyah.

Cempedak current price range about Rp4,000 per kilogram in the village. But if you buy into the garden just around Rp2,000 per kilogram.

Not only the cempedak in abundance, but also  rambutan, duku and other local fruits.
