Amuntai, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Cempaka in a bottle, one of the typical craft of North Hulu Sungai or HSU, South Kalimantan, is now endangered.


Head of Industrial Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, Trade and Industry (Diskuperindag) of North Hulu Sungai Hj Sri Mainor here on Saturday said it was feared this unique craft extinct, because only
one family doing this in the village of Tayur, Sub-district Haur Gading.

According to Sri, HSU hope the crafts skills develop and can be continued by other crafters.

"Indeed, some tried to imitate, but flowers do not last long or broken," added Sri.

Diskuperindag ownself ordered the bottled flowers crafts to be exhibited in promotional events outside South Kalimantan and partly stored for souvenirs to official guests.

While the artisan, Sri Kasmawartati (48 years), villagers of Tayur, admitted, her ability was inherited from his family. Within a month she produces 10 bottles to fulfil orders.

She does not mind if the craft purchased from her and resell of course with a higher price reached Rp300 thousand to Rp1 million.
