Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The sub-district of Pulau Sembilan or Nine Island in Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan, in recent days threatened to be isolated, as usual pioneer ship serving inter-island transportation expired it contract.


Principal of Pulau Sembilan High School, Palawagau, said on Monday some people more than a week have been staying in Batulicin and Kotabaru, because no other boats would carry passengers to the Nine Island or vice versa.

"Since pioneering ship does not operate late December 2014, no replacement ship. In fact, the pioneer ship was the only means of transportation for people in the islands of the southern part of the surrounding Kotabaru," he said.

Due to absent of transportation, said Palawagau, a necessities in sub-district keep thinning. "Because no more supply of goods from town to Pulau Sembilan, while the public every day need to eat and other necessities," he said.

What's worse, he said, the school activities in Pulau Sembilan also disrupted. Most teachers are in Batulicin, Kotabaru and other areas, after school holidays. They can not go to Pulau Sembilan, because there is no transport.

Not to mention the people who are sick and need to be referred to the general hospital. They could do nothing, but waiting for fate.

According to him, if this condition not immediately finds a solution, then the Nine Island will be completely isolated.
