Amuntai, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Small and medium industries or IKM entrepreneurs from North Hulu Sungai (HSU), South Kalimantan, go to Banyuwangi, East Java, to learn to treat waste wood into rupiahs.


"We will cooperate with the experienced entrepreneurs to develop the craftsmen in the use of waste wood to produce rupiahs," said Head of the HSU National Craft Council (Dekranasda)  Hj Anisah Rasyidah through a press release on Monday.

The success of Pelangi Sari Group in Banyuwangi in empowering of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) by utilizing wood waste attracting the HSU Dekranasda and Dikuperindag (trade and industry agency) to learn how to develop SME by involving third parties from the private sector.

Bambang Haryono from Management of Pelangi Sari Group revealed, many SMEs less developed due to several factors, among them the problem of marketing and capital.

He said local governments need to facilitate them so they can work together with the private sector, or other parties to develop a business they do.

According to him, the role of entrepreneur or private sector is not just helping in marketing, but also to build and train the SMEs actors to be more independent and creative.

Crafters creativity should be grown to exploit the potential of local areas, even using raw materials from the waste to becomes high quality products and have high economic value.

Pelangi Sari Group has been proved in processing raw materials from kayu asam (acid wood), acacia and trembesi which usually only used as firewood, but after the craftsmen processed them into products, they have high sales value thus increasing the income artisans and entrepreneurs of SMEs.
