The Secretary of the City of Banjarbaru Said Abdullah said that the flood emergency status has ended and has shifted to the post-flood recovery period.

"The flood emergency status has been revoked and is now entering post-flood recovery by handling infrastructure and agriculture that were affected by the flood," he said in Banjarbaru, Monday.

He said that when flood swamped almost all urban villages in mid-January 2021 many infrastructure, including roads and bridges, were damaged to being inundated for a long time.

The floods also damaged agricultural and plantation areas managed by residents, resulting in them losing their livelihood as farmers and plantation managers.

"Post-flood recovery will be directed to help those affected by the flood, so they can continue their living to support their families," he said.

Now he is waiting for data collection carried out by related agencies, to find out what budget has to be prepared for the post-flood handling.

The floods that hit the city in mid-January 2021 caused almost all 20 urban villages flooded, hundreds of houses were submerged, and thousands of people had to evacuate.

The areas worst hit by the flood were Cempaka Sub-district and Liang Anggang Sub-district until the Trans Kalimantan road could not be passed by vehicles of various types because of the high level of water.

Entering the end of the month, the floods subsided after rainfall reducing and water receding, and now the city government is preparing the post-flood recovery.
