Banjarmasin, (Antaranews Kalimantan) - Chairman of Commission I of  law and governance of South Kalimantan DPRD Surinto says it seeks to be neutral in facilitating problem solving of hundreds of hectares of land disputes between the Tanah Laut residents with the companies.

The statement was delivered to answer Antaranews Kalsel on Saturday related to land disputes between citizens of Subdistrict Kintap, Tanah Laut, with oil palm plantation companies.

Commission I will invite the district government together with leadership and members of local assembly for clarification. "We do not just hear the statements of the companies or citizens, because each party claimed to be right. Therefore, we also need information from local government and Tala assembly," he said.

"From the description of the various parties, then we follow up the appropriate authority vested in DPRD of South Kalimantan, especially to reach an agreement of each party in the dispute," said Surinto.

Previously, Tanah Laut Association of Indigenous Peoples or Permada led by Aban met the chairman of Commission I DPRD South Kalimantan to convey the problems they face, namely land disputes with plantation company PT Smart and PT Indo Raya.

According to the Chairman of the Permada, land grabbing occurred by PT Smart with an area of 670 hectares for oil palm plantations.

While Indo Raya promised to restore most or approximately 700 ha of the 1,400 ha residents' palm oil plantations in the form of plasma.

"But since the year 2012 and we repeatedly remind or demanding that promise the company not to respond," said Aban.
