Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Two welding workers in LCT Permata Barito I, which docked at the Port of Transportation Kodam (Military Command) Banjar Raya, West Banjarmasin, had to be rushed to Soeharsono Hospital or RS TPT Banjarmasin.


Both victims suffered serious burns all over body in an explosion caused by a gas cylinder exploded on Friday (19/9) at around 11:30.

According to the Chief of Port Areas Police Banjarmasin AKP Ajie Lukman, two workers who suffered serious burns was Rahmadi (40), a resident of North Alalak, and Selamat (30), a resident of Jalan Ujung Panti, Barito Kuala. Both were fixing a leak in the vessel LCT Permata Barito I.

"When they weld, possibly the gas cylinder was leaking, as fire suddenly grabbed and caused an explosion. Their bodies were hit by a bolt of great fire and injured a serious burn," Ajie mentioning witnesses and victims story.

While the victims are now being treated with intensive in hospital, police continue to investigate. "So far it estimates due to a leaking gas cylinder," he said.

In RS TPT Banjarmasin, Selamat told when Rahmadi want to weld at the leak, the fire suddenly grabbed. "I do not know, when the welding machine turned on flame direct on me and Rahmadi," he said.
