Paringin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Balangan Forestry and Plantation Agency began to close it ranks to anticipate forest burning to clear land made by citizens.


Head of Forestry and Plantation Agency, Haryono, here on Thursday said an appeal letter from the Balangan Regent related to land and forest burning ban has been circulated to the entire villages.

This agency also conducts outreach to the community about the negative impact caused by the burning of land, especially when it has entered dry season.

"The activities of land clearing for farming purposes by burning is still frequently encountered, whereas this practice can damage the environment and forests around it," he reminded.

Haryono appealed to citizens to obey the government and jointly cope with fires. "Now is the dry season, so we expect all elements of society must always be ready and alert in anticipating of fire hazard, both forests and buildings," he said.

He revealed, that in the last one week two forestfire has happened with the reason of clearing land.
