The districts of Bombana, Muna, Central Buton, and South Buton in Southeast Sulawesi Province have experienced several days without rains, according to a local climatology station.
The four districts experienced days without rain in the medium, long, and very long categories, Adlian Afa Annie, a forecaster on duty of the Climatology Station of South Konawe, said in a statement here on Sunday.
"The people of Southeast Sulawesi are urged to remain vigilant of the potential for drought and forest fires that might occur during the dry season. Please make sure to follow weather or climate information updates through reliable sources on the official website of BMKG (Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency)," Annie said.
In general, Southeast Sulawesi in mid-August 2020 experienced low rainfall at around 0-50 mm / ten days.
"Except for some areas of Konawe, Kolaka, and South Konawe, where they experience moderate rainfall, namely 51-100 mm / ten days," she noted.
Most parts of Southeast Sulawesi is predicted to experience low to medium rainfall at 0-150 mm / ten days, from the end of August to the end of September 2020.
Several areas of North Kolaka are forecast to experience high rainfall at 151-200 mm / ten days in early September.
