As many as 36 medical workers from different hospitals in Kudus District, Central Java Province, have shown positive signs of having contracted the coronavirus infection, based on the results of a rapid test.
"Besides the 36 medical workers, one (healthcare) employee has also shown positive indication of COVID-19 in the rapid test," spokesperson for the Kudus District Task Force for the Acceleration of COVID-19 Handling, Andini Aridewi, said on Wednesday.
Based on preliminary contact tracing, the suspected workers came in close contact with COVID-19 patients while treating them, he informed.
The 36 medical workers are among 137 people who underwent rapid testing for COVID-19 in the district.
Asked about the isolation of the medical workers, he said, one of the hospitals has tried to prepare a centralized isolation room. Based on the result of the rapid test, the number of positive COVID-19 patients is quite large, he added.
Under the health protocol, those testing positive for COVID-19 during a rapid test have to undergo a throat swab test for confirmation of their diagnosis.
Meanwhile, the district has also reported two more confirmed coronavirus cases on Wednesday. (INE)
