Spokesperson of the South Sungai Selatan (HSS) COVID-19 Acceleration Mitigation Siti Zainab here on Friday (April 17, 2020) said, one Patient Under Surveillance (PDP) died while being treated at the isolation room of the Brigjend H Hasan Basry Kandangan Hospital.


She said, patient with an HBS-3 code, male (58), died on Friday(April 17, 2020) at about 8.30 morning, and the funeral was carried out that day with a fixed procedures of handling COVID-19.

"The results of the patient's first swab test were negative, then the second swab test was carried out and the results were still doubtful and the third test was planned, but the patient had died," she pointed out.

She said the funeral of the patient was carried out on the government-owned land  and its location was kept secret so as to avoid being a public spectacle. The family has also surrendered its handling to the government.

Previously, Regent H Achmad Fikry as the chief of the Task Force said, HSS government has a special burial ground for people died because of COVID-19 and the land meet medical standards, the distance was according to the provisions of 500 meters from residential areas.

He hoped if later any Patient Under Surveillance (PDP) was declared negative, he or she will be received back to the community and given moral encouragement and not to be ostracized.

"The PDP must also continue to follow the recommendation of a healthy lifestyle, wear mask during activities, wash hands with soap in running water, and keep distance and avoid the crowd," he said.
