As many as 19,200 customers of PT PLN in Tanah Bumbu District exempted or discounted from electricity tariff for three months since April 2020.
Head of the Batulicin chapter of PT PLN Aris Aprianto, Tuesday (April 7, 2020) said, 9.400 of postpaid 450-volt-ampere (VA) household customers and 2,500 of prepaid will enjoy free of charge.
While a 50-percent discount is given for 900-VA customers. "Postpaid 900 VA (R1) customers reached 3,500 and 3.800 of prepaid customers," Aris said.
However, he added, the number is estimated to increase, as the Batulicin PLN is still collecting data related to customers who receive exemption and discount for three months.
Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stated the government will not charge electricity tariff from 450-volt-ampere (VA) household customers in April, May, and June bills under the stimuli to revive the economy hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jokowi revealed that the government will offer a 50-percent discount in the electricity bills for 900-VA customers for April, May, and June.

For postpaid 450 VA (R1) and 900 VA (R1) customers they will automatically get a three-month exemption and discount.
While for prepaid customers, they should follow the steps or procedures, one of which to access the official PLN website. Then fill in customer ID. If the steps have been followed, free electricity token is successfully obtained and thye customer can enter the number into KWH meter.
"If the customer finds difficulties with the steps, PLN provides other facilities by contacting PLN through Whatsapp number 08122123123 and customers can start a conversation by typing the free electriity keywords," he said.
He assured, PLN will continue to provide the best service, and would follow up on President Joko Widodo's policies related to the handling of coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19).
