PT Adaro Indonesia received Proper Emas award from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (LHK) of the Republic of Indonesia for the period of 2019.
Vice President Ma’ruf Amin was accompanied by LHK Minister Siti Nurbaya when he presented the award to President Director of PT Adaro Energy Garibaldi Thohir at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Wednesday (Jan 8, 2020).
Proper (the Company Performance Rating Program in Environmental Management) Emas (Gold) award was the second achievement in the course of PT Adaro Indonesia's operation in South Kalimantan. Adaro won the first Proper Emas in 2012.
Adaro at that time became the first company in Indonesia to win the award from the mining sector.
After a long waiting, then in 2019/2020 period, Adaro regained the same recognition from the government in managing environment in its managing operation.
"This award is through evaluation process of environment regulation compliance, implementation of environment management systems, energy efficiency, water conservation, emission reduction, biodiversity protection, and community empowerment," Minister Siti Nurbaya remarked.
PT Adaro Indonesia was one of 26 companies won the Proper Emas 2019. Other companies who won the same award including Pertamina and PLN.
Head of Adaro Mining Engineering Suhernomo expressed his gratitude for the achievement of Proper Emas. This proves, he said, that Adaro has gained trust and recognition from the community and the government in managing the environment and the company's operation.
“Here we grateful. It has been seven years we are "fasting" and now we regain the Proper Emas,” Suhernomo said.
