Syamsudin Noor Airport Built In Shape of Diamond

Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I Akhmad Munir said Syamsudin Noor airport development will be built like diamond, an icon and symbol of wealth of this area.

"Syamsudin Noor will be sufficient majestic and beautiful. When viewed from above, the building like a diamond," Akhmad said here on Wednesday.

The laying of the first stone of development will be in late 2013 and to be completed in early 2015. Currently, he added, development begins with the improvements of various facilities, including the expansion of the parking area and arrival terminal.

With the high number of arriving and departing passengers which continues to grow each year, Syamsudin Noor is eligible to become International airport. "Actually, for the moment, good facilities and conditions (of the airport) are eligible to become International airport, " he said.

Moreover, he added, Syamsudin Noor Airport has long been hajj embarkation from South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan and it capable to be landed by Boeng 737-300. But so far it not received permission from the Ministry of Transportation.

Previously, South Kalimantan government targets Syamsudin Noor become an international airport in 2014, so people can have direct flying to different countries. *** ***
