The Banjarmasin Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BBPOM) is now keeping a close watch on school kid snack food (PJAS) in Tanah Bumbu by providing technical guidance to all heads of school in the district.


Head of the Banjarmasin BBPOM M. Guntur said the supervision is carried out to guarantee nutrition and quality of food before being consumed by schoold children.

"We appeal to food vendors in school canteen do not mix any dangerous substance to snack food they sell only to gain benefit without considering the health of consumers," he emphasized.

According to him the healthy school canteens should have the right management, on of which adequate hygiene and sanitation in food production process.

Meanwhile, the school managements are obliged to contribute in supervising snack food circulating in schools by conducting check lik, namely to check packaging, label, distribution permits, and their expiration.

To strengthen the oversight program, BBPOM collaborated with the Tanah Bumbu Education and culture Agency and Health Agency to imprve the quality of healthy canteen in every school.
