Chairperson of Commission III of the Banjarmasin Legislative Council (DPRD) Matnor Ali said, the city must really improve road pavement and drainage to become a world tourism city, at least standardized as cities in Bali.

He revealed, Monday, on his commission's working visit to cities in Bali this week, they saw Bali as a world tourist destination having excellent pedestrian and drainage facilities.

"Banjarmasin must follow the pedestrian and drainage facilities in the cities of Bali, because Banjarmasin is determined to become a tourism city, which is the best river city in Indonesia," he pointed out.

According to the Golkar politician, to sell tourism objects so they sell well in the eyes of the world, Banjarmasin must be very ready for promotion, including having qualified infrastructure facilities, both roads, sidewalks and drainage.

"Now we are building a good sidewalk on the A Yani protocol road, this must proceed to other protocol roads," said Matnor Ali.

For example, he said, on Jalan Sutoyo S, Jalan Brigjen Hasan Basri, Jalan Lambung Mangkurat and Jalan Samudra which are protocol roads or state roads.

"These strategic roads must be completely rehabilitated along the sidewalk and its drainage. This should be a priority going forward," he said.

The tourists, said Matnor Ali, if visiting an area would prefer to walk to enjoy the atmosphere of a city, like the scenery in the city of Bali.

"If it has become a world tourism city, the huge benefits are not only increasing the economy of the region and the people, but the source of development funds will be obtained by the city government," he said.

He gave an example of Badung Regency, Bali, which has a tourist attraction on the Kuta Beach, gained a pure revenue of Rp1 trillion.
