Until two days before Idul Fitri (D-2) as many as 16 thousands homebound (mudik) passengers have passed through the Trisakti Harbor for the destination of Surabaya, East Java.

"Since D-15 of Idul Fitri 1440 Hijri until now, with seven ships in operation, the number of passengers have been transported reaches 14,252 people," said Head of Trisakti Port Authority (KSOP) Bambang Gunawan when reviewing the flow of mudik with the South Kalimantan Regional Police Chief and the Provincial Secretary.

If added with passengers of the Dharma Kartika IX which carried around 1,500 passengers, the total passenger in 2019 reached 16 thousand people, up between 28-30 percent compared to 2018.

The increase in the number of passenger ships, Bambang added, is estimated triggered by the hike in air ticket prices, that people want going home in groups, turning to sea transportation.

Despite a significant increase in passengers, Bambang added, with sufficient preparation from all relevant parties, passengers can transported all.

Even the special departure of the last ship, which should depart at 15:00 was postponed until 16:00 p.m., to anticipate if there was any impromptu or lagging passengers.

"This Dharma Kartika ship, is the last ship for the transportation of homecoming. After that holiday until June 8, 2019," he said.
