Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Banjarbaru Mayor Nadjmi Adhani appealed to the residents to pay their zakat through the National Zakat Agency (Baznas) until it channel back to the people who have the right to receive it.
The appeal was conveyed by the mayor, who was accompanied by Deputy Mayor Darmawan Jaya Setiawan, when paying zakat to the management of the Banjarbaru City Baznas at the City Hall service desk on Monday.
"We call the public and government emplyees to pay their zakat to the institutions that manage it, namely Baznas, to be channeled to exact right recipients," said the mayor.
For state civil apparatus (ASN), especially in the city government office, they can channel the obligation to pay zakat through a service desk prepared by the Baznas of Banjarbaru.
"Carrying out zakat is an obligation for Muslims and if the people's funds, both from zakat, infaq and sadaqah, are truly managed and those who manage trust, of course the benefits will be maximized," he said.
The Head of Baznas Banjarbaru Khairani said, the opening of the Baznas service desk at City Hall was one of Baznas' efforts to maximize zakat receipts, especially among ASNs.
