Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - 181 hajj pilgrim candidates in Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan, underwent a fitness test as a first step in the process of their departure to the Holy Land of Mecca.
"The fitness test is one of the stages that pilgrims have to undergo before the health test," said Head of Kotabaru Health Office H Akhmad Rivai here on Tuesday.
He explained, fitness tests include measurements of height and weight, blood sugar tests, pulse and heart test through a 1.6 kilometer run or walking.
Elderly are given the opportunity to walk, but those who are still strong are encouraged to run and if they are less able to be given the opportunity to walk.
"Thank God, the final results of the fitness test are all sufficient, and some are good," he said.
After the fitness test, pilgrims will undergo a health test at the community health center (puskesmas) or at the Kotabaru District Hospital. In the health test, each pilgrim are asked to spare two days.
"After being declared isthito'ah or healthy, pilgrims can pay off the Haj Management Cost (BPIH)," he explained.
Head of the Kotabaru Office of Ministry of Religious Affair H Salman Bisri explained, the BPIH could be paid by pilgrims after isthito'ah based on the results of a medical test. BPIH for the South Kalimantan is set at IDR 37,885,084.
