Jakarta (Antaranews Kalsel) - The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) moves quickly in distributing aid to the people of Banten and Lampung affected by the tsunami, Saturday (12/22).
"Armed with the experience of being responsive to the disasters in Lombok and Palu, we believe the BUMN is able to collaborate well with the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) and the TNI and Police in tackling the tsunami disaster in Banten and Lampung," said the Ministry's Deputy of Mining, Strategic Industry and Media Fajar Harry Sampurno in Jakarta on Monday.
BUMNs, he said, have been urged to immediately identify the needs of the evacuation process, the recovery of the condition of the community and the restoration of public services, such as energy services (electricity and fuel), banking, and transportation infrastructure.
Assistance that has been channeled by BUMN is in the form of ready-to-eat food, drinking water, medical personnel, blankets, Pertamina gas cylinders, 4 heavy equipment (excavators), ambulances until tetanus and flu vaccines.
To ensure electricity services, PLN continues to make repairments. PLN has recorded 146 substations have been successfully operated, 102 other substations and 41 electricity poles are still in the process of repair and recovery.
Regarding the evacuation of PLN employees and their families who were victims when holding a Family Gathering in Tanjung Lesung, there were 156 survivors, 35 dead and 9 unaccounted for.
The process of evacuating the bodies to a number of hospitals in Jakarta and to the funeral home was continued by PLN. 36 ambulances were deployed, PLN also added personnel to assist in the evacuation and data collection process in the field.
On Sunday (23/12) night, BUMN Minister Rini Soemarno went to Fatmawati Hospital to give final respect to PLN employees and their families who had died.
Meanwhile, spokesman of the BNPB Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said the death figure from the tsunami disaster in Sunda Strait, until 1 p.m. local time on Tuesday, has increased to 429.
"(The death toll) can possibly increase, the most severe impact being in Pandeglang," he revealed.
The BNPB also revealed that until the third day after the tsunami, 1,485 people were injured, 154 went missing, and 16,082 people were displaced by the tsunami that occurred on Saturday night on December 22, 2018.
According to Sutopo, of the five districts, Pandeglang suffered the worst impact, with 290 people dead, 1,143 injured, 77 missing, and 14,395 displaced.
A towering tsunami, believed to have been triggered by an avalanche of the slopes of Anak Krakatau due to the volcano`s explosions in Sunda Strait, devastated several regions in the coastal areas of Banten Province in Java and Lampung Province in Sumatra on Saturday (Dec 22).
