Banjar, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Ministry of Agriculture continues to improve farmers 'capabilities by encouraging technology and modernizing agriculture to support farmers' corporations in South Kalimantan.
Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman during his visit to Banjar District revealed, his side continued to work on developing the SERASI (Save Swampland and Prosper Farmers) program, namely the government program to encourage the improvement of farmers' welfare through the concept of cooperated cooperatives.
During the year, the SERASI program will be funded by the central government. "Then in the following year it transformed into a corporation, so it is managed carefully by calculating professional profits," Amran explained.
To support the peasant corporation, the government overhauled the conservative agricultural system to become modern. The renovation starts from the production sector to the post-production process.
Modernization in the optimization of swamp land is carried out through water and land governance, such as rehabilitation activities and or improvement of irrigation sluice infrastructure, strengthening of embankments, dikes, drainage, tabat, surjan, and others.
"The application of plant cultivation technology is adjusted to the land typology. Everything is managed with modern," said Amran.
Banjar Regent Khalilurrahman said his regency has 500,000 hectares of paddy fields. "The potential for swamps here is still very large. We warmly welcome the SERASI project in our district," he said.
