Batulicin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The Tanah Bumbu (Tanbu) government, South Kalimantan, hopes the sub-district level of Council of Indonesian Ulema (MUI) assists the government in overcoming problems that occur among Moslem (umat) in their respective regions.
Regent H. Sudian Noor in Batulicin said that the sub-district MUI must play a role in rectifying disputes in the community and fortifying communities from various new streams that have the potential to cause unrest.
"In this era of globalization, the role of the MUI is one of the important components in the system of community development," said the regent.
He said, MUI and regional government must be able to work together in order to answer the rampant religious problems, both internal and external problems.
However, according to him, this is not merely an obligation and responsibility of the regional government and the MUI, but is a joint responsibility.
Other issues, besides concerning religious issues, are also a concern of the government, he said, related to the atmosphere ahead of the 2019 Legislative and Presidential Elections.
