Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Acting Head of Banjarmasin Health Agency Lukman Hakim announced measles and rubella immunization for children in the city to be continued until December 2018.
That is because MR immunization in the first phase of August-September was not significantly fulfilled, he said, so that immunization for children aged 9 months to 15 years was added one month to October 30, 2018.
During the three months of the MR immunization movement, said Lukman, the results were straying around 53.75 percent of 176 thousand children in this city. "Even though the national target should reach 85 percent in October," he explained.
The continuation of the MR immunization until the end of December 2018 is based on the Ministry of Health's orders for regions that have not met national targets at the end of last October.
"Last week there was a national meeting in Yogyakarta about the results of MR immunization. It will be evaluated and academically assessed on how immunization works in each region," Lukman said.
So, he explained, policies would be raised for each region, including in Banjarmasin, how can MR immunization be evenly distributed to all children. "The point is that MR immunization does not stop, maybe even it will become a program every year," Lukman said.
