Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (Antaranews) - The Banjarmasin Class I Immigration Office canceled six passports allegedly being misused by non-procedural migrant workers to work in Saudi Arabia.
"We took action by canceling the passport allegedly requested for Umrah but used to work non-procedurally in Saudi Arabia," said Adityo A Nugroho, Head of Information and Communication Technology Section of Banjarmasin Class I Immigration Office in Banjarbaru, Friday.
Another action was taken by the Head of the Office Syahrifullah by examining six passport holders who were residents of one of the districts in South Kalimantan.
In addition to canceling their passports for six months (a maximum of two years), immigration also proposes prevention of the six immigration document holders.
"We propose the prevention to the Director General of Immigration against the six passport holders who are suspected of misusing and giving false information when applying for a passport," he said.
But from the results of the examination, it was discovered that the six prospective Indonesian migrant workers were victims of misuse of passports, so they were not subjected to sanctions.
"They are suspected of being victims to be dispatched as non-procedural Indonesian migrant workers, but was known by Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection and Recruitment Office (BP3TKI) Banjarbaru who was coordinating with us," he said.
