Marabahan, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The Director General for Transmigration Area Development M Nurdin said the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration continued to optimize the infrastructure of the Cahaya Baru Independent Integrated Area in Barito Kuala District.
"We will continue. Next year we will again support infrastructure facilities. Yesterday, our joint meeting with the Commission V of the House of Representatives related to what is needed here," said M Nurdin at the groundbreaking of the development of superior products in rural areas here Friday (9/21).
Nurdin, who is a native of South Kalimantan, said in addition to infrastructure and revitalization, the capacity of farmers, economic institutions, village leaders, and others would be increased.
The aim, he said, is for the existence of farmers in the Cahaya Baru area whose agricultural land was used as the development of modern lebak (swamp lowland) agriculture to be optimal.
Regarding the construction of the Rice Milling Unit (RMU), the director general explained, is to anticipate an increase in rice production, as the local area set as a development area for swampy farming production.
"We consider this RMU with a capacity of 1.2 tons per hour is very much needed whereas the yield of rice here will double at least twice because of the harvest twice a year," he said.
Nurdin estimates that rice production in Jejangkit will continue to increase through harvests to three times a year. To anticipate this, of course, a suitable capacity is needed.
"So next year we will support again. We hope that this plan will have the support of Commission V so that the existence of infrastructure can continue in the future, "he said.
Member of Commission V of the House of Representatives H Abdul Latif Hanafiah who participated in the trip said that his party would try to fight for what is hoped for by the ministry.
