Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The city of Banjarmasin is ready to host the annual cultural activities of Borneo Culture Festival 2 which is scheduled to take place on August 11-15, 2018.
The committee of the festival Susi here on Tuesday said that the festival will involve five provinces in Kalimantan Island (Borneo) and would present various cultural attractions and competitions.
"The festival displays a variety of cultural attractions and various competitions in addition to being an arena for investment meetings involving investors from five provinces on the island," he said.
The idea of an investment-related meeting was made by the South Kalimantan Governor Sahbirin Noor to offer various economic potentials scattered in various regions of South Kalimantan consisting of 13 districts and cities.
"Hopefully participants who take part in investment meetings are interested in investing their capital in the fields of mining, plantations and tourism which are still potential to be worked on," he said.
The five-day event was scheduled to be attended by the Minister of Tourism and a number of ambassadors from friendly countries whose arrival was still in the process of confirmation.
According to him, attractions and competitions that will be held include painting, chisel competitions, some traditional game such as balogo competitions, gasing competitions, blowpipe competitions, laung design competitions, and photography competitions.
"Traditional games that are the hallmark of the Kalimantan community, especially the Banjar tribe, will be competed so it becomes a place to preserve culture," he said.
Meanwhile, attractions by displaying cultural arts come from five provinces, namely South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, West Kalimantan and the new province of North Kalimantan.
The event will be also marked by a cultural carnival involving participants from Kalimantan as well as involving the local community such as old bicycle lovers or ontel mania.
"Participants who came are not only from Kalimantan Indonesia but also representatives of Kalimantan in Malaysia, besides from Sumatra so the festival will be more lively," he said.
