Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Kotabaru Penitentiary is now equipped with an x-ray scanner to prevent smuggling of forbidden goods.
"This is one of the efforts to prevent smuggling of forbidden goods into prisons," Kotabaru Prison Head Suhartomo said Wednesday.
There are some items that are prohibited from entering prisons, namely cell phones, cameras, firearms, and sharp weapons. With the sophisticated tools, smuggling through visitors can be avoided since the entrance.
This x-ray scanner is just like in the airport. The tool is used to check the goods carried by the visitor. If from the scans shows a suspicious look, the operator will ask the officer to check the goods directly.
"There are various ways of smuggling, usually included in food, which can be detected by the device, so it can be prevented from entering," explained Suhartomo.
Not only visitor's goods must be through x-ray examination. Clothing and objects attached to the visitor also do not escape the examination, from bags, jackets, wallets, cigarettes, until the belt.
