Pelaihari, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Head of Agriculture and Horticulture Agency H Faturahman said South Kalimantan is currently the top 10 rice producers in Indonesia and became one of the national food centers.
"Thus, South Kalimantan is also set to become one of the national food resilience supporters by the central government," said H Faturahman at PT Smart Tbk partnership's maize harvest on Wednesday (28/2).
According to him, based on the fact from all districts and cities in South Kalimantan, only two have not yet surplus rice, namely Banjarmasin and Banjarbaru.
Now the expansion of rice crops, corn and soybeans continue to be improved so that food production in South Kalimantan continues to increase.
Meanwhile, he said, from 60 thousand tons of corn crop in South Kalimantan in 2017, 656 percent came from Tanah Laut District.
Secretary of Tanah Laut Agriculture, Horticulture and Plantation Agency Fitrian Noor said in 2018 the district received assistance from the central government for the expansion of 85 thousand hectares of corn planting, 10 thousand hectares of rice planting, and 25 thousand hectares of soybean crops.
