Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - South Kalimantan Vice-Governor Rudy Resnawan said today the violence against wife and children is still high.
This condition is seriously noticed by the government, said the Vice Governor at the Commemoration of Mothers Day in Banjarmasin, Monday.
Based on the data of the National Commission on Violence against Women (Komnas Perempuan), nationally the number of cases of violence against women and children during 2017 reached 259,150 cases. The violence against wives was ranked first.
Following the violence against girlfriends, violence against daughters, and the rest of the violence of ex-husbands, violent of ex-girlfriends, and violence against domestic workers.
The highest types of violence are physical violence, followed by sexual violence, psychic violence, and economic violence.
Looking at the data, Rudy Resnawan invites all community components to make Mother's Day momentum as an afterthought about the importance of women's role in the household, society, nation, and state.
"The high level of violence against women, from persecution, beatings to actions that lead to death, is very alarming, and should get immediate attention from all parties," he said.
Vice Governor calls for stop violence against women and children and invites all stakeholders, supervises and seeks to reduce the number.
"Social media and mass media should collaborate, participate in the movement to stop violence against women and children," he said.
