Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Finnish Embassy to Indonesia responded positively to the South Kalimantan Green Revolution Movement which was the idea of Governor H Sahbirin Noor.
Chairman of the DPRD's Special Committee on Green Revolution Draft Regulation Dr. H Karlie Hanafi Kalianda in Banjarmasin, Wednesday, admitted he had met the Finnish Embassy in Jakarta last week.
But in the meeting, the embassy has not been able to provide certainty of cooperation in forestry development as it was in the 1980s until the 1990s.
For the cooperation, continued Karlie Hanafi who is also Chairman of the Golkar Party Faction in the DPRD, will be discussed between the governments of Finland and Indonesia.
"But clearly Finland's aid program or cooperation with Indonesia is now focused in the education field," said former student activist of Lambung Mangkurat University Banjarmasin who is now doing the agribusiness.
"We hope to also go to cooperation in the field of education, especially in the forestry sector," he said.
He explained that the reason for the visit of the Special Committee to the Finnish Embassy in Jakarta was to explore or learn forestry because the country on the Europe Continent is famous for its forestry.
"But the forestry business agents in Finland is private, so the country gets a big enough income from that sector, now how we imitate Finland for the forestry sector to bring huge revenue as well," he said.
Green Revolution draft regulation comes from the executive (Provincial Government) as a follow-up to the wishes of the local Governor to create an integrated forestry system in an area of about 3.7 million hectares.
The reason is in South Kalimantan which consists of 13 districts and cities there is forested forest area of 854,711 ha in which there is also a critical land of 640.709 ha.
