Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, Sept 28 (Antara) - The police arrested two teachers of an Islamic boarding school in Banjar District, South Kalimantan Province, for allegedly printing counterfeit currency.
"The practice of printing counterfeit money came to light after one of the perpetrators handed over some money as a tip to a woman in a nightspot," Central Banjarmasin Police spokesman Commissioner Wahyu Hidayat stated here on Wednesday.
Hidayat said the victim was a woman, who became suspicious after receiving Rp100 thousand and Rp50 thousand bills from the perpetrator. She then reported the incident to the security guard.
The security guard later informed the Central Banjarmasin Police Crime Unit that managed to arrest the two perpetrators at the location.
The two perpetrators were identified as Ardi Maulana and Rajib who respectively had Rp250 thousand and Rp200 thousand of counterfeit money in their possession.
During interrogation, Maulana and Rajib admitted to have printed the money by using a computer at the Tarbiyyatul Almualliminal Islamiyah on Jalan Karang Tengah Cindai Alus in Banjar District.
